Ding! Ding! Ding! The fire bell is ringing!
Wow, we had so much fun learning about fire safety this week! Ask your child to tell you all about the fire truck and firefighters that came to our school on Thursday. The kids were able to see that firefighters are not scary, even when they have all of their equipment on! We learned the difference between "hot" items and things that are not hot. We learned to dial 9-1-1 on the telephone if there is an emergency. We also learned that we should "get out and stay out!" if there is a fire. Ask your child to show you how to "stop", "drop", and "roll". They are so smart! The class enjoyed writing a thank-you note to Firefighter Andrea, Josh and Jay. They traced 9-1-1, created fire trucks using circles, rectangles and squares, made the color orange by mixing red and yellow paint and practiced counting to four by putting dots on Dalmation dogs.
The kids enjoyed telling Mrs. Kelly about the fun they had during fall break.
Mrs. Kelly looks just like a real firefighter!
"Hot" and "Not Hot"
Beep! Beep! Look! The firetruck is here!
Firefighter Josh taught us to dial 9-1-1 if there is a fire.
We were so good at standing on the line so we could listen to the firefighters.
They even let us touch some of their tools and fire equipment.
Firefighter Jay showed us how he puts on his hat and mask. It wasn't scary at all!
Firefighter Andrea helped us climb into the firetruck so we could see what it looked like!
Cool! They have flashlights!
I think Anna enjoyed her visit in the firetruck.
The whole class was invited to see the inside of the firetruck.
Here are some photos of little happy faces.
Our class is so blessed to have the
Lafayette Firefighters as friends.
Thank you so much for teaching us about fire safety!
High fives to all!
Mrs. Kelly pretended she was a firefighter!
She said the hat she wore was very heavy.
Safety first! Line up and grab a shape on our walking rope so that we can enter the school safely.
It's time for prayers and snack.
Mrs. Crystal helped the class make firetrucks out of different shapes.
Everyone signed their own name on the thank-you letter we sent our firefighter friends.
We painted our hands orange and placed our prints on the letter too!
Mrs. Kelly read us a story about how we should "stop", "drop" and "roll" if our clothes catch on fire!
"Stop!"
"Drop!"
"Roll!"
We practiced a few times.
If there is a fire and you smell smoke, crawl to the door so you can "get out and stay out"!
School is fun.
