November has been a month packed full of fall learning activities. During Dinosaur week we learned about the letter “D” and used dinosaur stamps to trace the letter as we discussed the “D” sound. Oh what fun we had digging in the dirt to find dinosaur bones at the sensory table. You wouldn’t believe all of the interesting artifacts we discovered while using magnifying glasses, tweezers and other items to view it all up close! We learned about fossils and made dinosaur prints in play dough. We also used our handprints to make Stegosaurus art. We continued to practice our cutting skills with scissors and measured dinosaur bones of several lengths using counting cubes from our math center. We painted dinosaurs with q-tips using our pincer grip and hand-eye coordination and practiced spelling our names while incorporating the new shape (triangle) we learned this week.
During Turkey/Thanksgiving week we concentrated on all that we are thankful for. The kids came up with some really sweet (and some funny) answers. I hope you enjoy the craft that we sent home. We learned about the letter “T” and worked our little fingers while we tore paper and glued the pieces onto the letter “T”. We used our fingers and ink to place feathers on our number turkey project, we hunted for the letter “T” in a puzzle and we made a couple adorable crafts for our families to enjoy over Thanksgiving. The “Mr. Turkey” song was a huge hit. Ask them to sing it for you!
Look at the new items we have for our light table!
Don’t forget to practice fine motor skills with your child to strengthen the grips of those little fingers! Playdough, cutting, squeezing a ball, picking up pennies with gloves...all of these things will help them with writing!
Most importantly, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! Karen and I are so very thankful to be able to learn with each child in this class week-after-week. We are truly blessed to have met our sweet little friends. Have a blessed, happy and fun-filled Thanksgiving!
