Happy Easter! He Is Risen!!!!

Happy Easter!  This week we learned about Easter and the story of Jesus and how He died on the cross for us.  My favorite part of this week at school was when I read the “The Easter Story” by Patricia Pingry to the class.  I happened to pick up this book at Walmart earlier this week, thinking it might be simple enough for the little ones to understand.  Wow!  They were so interested in this story, they didn’t make a peep!  I was thrilled.  When I asked them questions about the book, they were able to tell me exactly what happened!  It was wonderful.  We enjoyed several Easter activities this week.  We practiced color recognition while making the “Jellybean Prayer”, traced our names on egg puzzles and cut along squiggly lines, painted beautiful spring paintings by using only paint and eggs (this was such a fun project!), created a tomb craft and made a special gift for our families.  Happy Easter to you and your families!

"Egg-Roll" Painting!
This was such a fun activity!

We even created our own egg puzzles.  We traced our name, cut along the lines, and pieced the puzzles back together!

The Easter Story
Look at this class during story time.  Can you tell they are interested in the story of Jesus?  Wow.  I was so impressed with their enthusiasm about listening to the story of Easter.

After circle time, I overheard this group of friends building a "tomb" out of blocks.  Ha!

Thank you Makiah for being our Student of the Day!

Pond Life!

Hello everyone!  Isn’t is so wonderful outside this week?  Spring is finally in the air!  This week we learned about pond life, while continuing to learn about spring.  We were especially interested in looking at the real shark and alligator that Mrs. Kelly brought in to show the class!  How cool!  We learned that oceans and ponds are very different.  We reviewed the letter “F” for “fish” and “frog” and continued to practice learning how to write and spell our names, cut with scissors, and how to follow directions.  We also continued to work our little fine motor muscles with some fun activities involving pipe cleaners, play-doh and noodles!  Awesome!

During circle time, we us finger puppets to trace numbers in the air while we sing “The Numeral Song”.  It is one of our favorites.  We also review our colors and shapes at circle time each day.  We are working very hard to prepare ourselves for being smart and big kinder-preppers!

We practice writing our name every day!

Can you find the letters from your name?

Check out our fun playdough mats!

Can you use your fingers to place stickers?

At Minds-In-Motion this week, we learned about each station with our Kinder-Prep buddies!  Thank you friends for helping us learn new ways to use our Adventure Lab!

St. Patrick's Day and Rainbows!

What a beautiful and colorful time we had this week!  We started learning about rainbows on Thursday as soon as the kids arrived in the classroom.  We had several color sorting activities on the tables for them to play with.  We sorted different foods by color from the kitchen center, completed the color puzzles, had fun with the paint can magnetic color puzzle, and even had color coded play dough mats to sort with while cutting, squishing, and kneading dough.  In the sensory bin we searched through rainbow confetti to find colorful items.  Then we used tweezers to pick up each item and place it in the correct color in the sorting tray.   We loved painting this week, and boy did we paint a lot!  We painted rainbows carefully and worked our little brains to keep our brushes in the right path to make the shape of a rainbow.  We painted a beautiful hand print rainbow for you to keep.  We created rainbows out of fruit loops and worked our hand-eye coordination skills.  We graphed different skittle colors on a skittle graph, yum! (Wow, I was so impressed with their graphing skills!  Graphing is not easy to do!)  We used our little fingers to lace rainbow pasta necklaces and even had fun during clean up time, by only cleaning up items of a certain color.

If you found a leprechaun’s pot of gold, what would you buy with it?  I can’t wait for you to see the answers your children came up with!  I kept this piece for your child’s portfolio.  On Thursday Mrs. Kelly dressed like a rainbow, wearing lots of different colors and on Friday we made a human rainbow!!!

Here are a few photos from "Ocean" week.  Oops!

We even had "circles" for snack!
