Hooray for Threes!

Thank you for allowing me to teach your child this year.  It has been a joy and a blessing, and I am so very thankful to have become part of your child’s life.  Each child in this class is dear to my heart and I just love this little class.  Sadly, this will be my last year teaching at LAP and I am going to miss it so much.  When my little guy Lucas goes to kindergarten, I will be returning to full-time work.  So my husband and I decided to take advantage of the time we have with the boys while they are little and I am going to be a full-time mommy next year.  I am so thankful to be able to have this experience, but I am going to miss the fun and exciting days at LAP.  I will see some of you next year as I join you in drop-off and pick-up for Lucas, and look forward to seeing our little classmates grow!

I also want to thank Karen, who has been an amazing teacher, and who is always overflowing with love for these children.  Karen, thank you for ALL of it.  You are an unbelievably amazing woman.  Until I see you all again, have a fabulous fun-filled summer!

I love each and every one of you!  Hooray for Threes!

Love,
Mrs. Kelly

Happy Easter! He Is Risen!!!!

Happy Easter!  This week we learned about Easter and the story of Jesus and how He died on the cross for us.  My favorite part of this week at school was when I read the “The Easter Story” by Patricia Pingry to the class.  I happened to pick up this book at Walmart earlier this week, thinking it might be simple enough for the little ones to understand.  Wow!  They were so interested in this story, they didn’t make a peep!  I was thrilled.  When I asked them questions about the book, they were able to tell me exactly what happened!  It was wonderful.  We enjoyed several Easter activities this week.  We practiced color recognition while making the “Jellybean Prayer”, traced our names on egg puzzles and cut along squiggly lines, painted beautiful spring paintings by using only paint and eggs (this was such a fun project!), created a tomb craft and made a special gift for our families.  Happy Easter to you and your families!

"Egg-Roll" Painting!
This was such a fun activity!

We even created our own egg puzzles.  We traced our name, cut along the lines, and pieced the puzzles back together!

The Easter Story
Look at this class during story time.  Can you tell they are interested in the story of Jesus?  Wow.  I was so impressed with their enthusiasm about listening to the story of Easter.

After circle time, I overheard this group of friends building a "tomb" out of blocks.  Ha!

Thank you Makiah for being our Student of the Day!

Pond Life!

Hello everyone!  Isn’t is so wonderful outside this week?  Spring is finally in the air!  This week we learned about pond life, while continuing to learn about spring.  We were especially interested in looking at the real shark and alligator that Mrs. Kelly brought in to show the class!  How cool!  We learned that oceans and ponds are very different.  We reviewed the letter “F” for “fish” and “frog” and continued to practice learning how to write and spell our names, cut with scissors, and how to follow directions.  We also continued to work our little fine motor muscles with some fun activities involving pipe cleaners, play-doh and noodles!  Awesome!

During circle time, we us finger puppets to trace numbers in the air while we sing “The Numeral Song”.  It is one of our favorites.  We also review our colors and shapes at circle time each day.  We are working very hard to prepare ourselves for being smart and big kinder-preppers!

We practice writing our name every day!

Can you find the letters from your name?

Check out our fun playdough mats!

Can you use your fingers to place stickers?

At Minds-In-Motion this week, we learned about each station with our Kinder-Prep buddies!  Thank you friends for helping us learn new ways to use our Adventure Lab!
