Apples!

Hooray for apples!  This week was especially fun as we began the fall season learning about apples.  The kids are really trying to cut with scissors at school.  It is a very hard task to master, but they are doing great!  We learned about the letter “A” this week and the sounds it makes.  We also tasted three different colors of apples; red, yellow and green and each child shared which apple they liked the most.  We then made a classroom chart showing the most popular apple.  We learned that there are several parts of an apple.  Ask your child to show you the seeds, flesh, skin, leaf and stem of an apple.  We painted apple prints using apple halves and made giant alligators eating apples made out of the letter “A”!  We learned how to place apples in smallest to largest order, traced the number three, and learned which friends have the letter “A” in their name.  You will also find an apple “Memory” game in your child’s folder.  This is just a fun game you can keep at home to play with.

At the sensory table, we used tweezers to squeeze little pom-pon "apples"
and place them in the apple baskets.

There are "bushels and bushels" of books about apples!

We even walked along the letter "A" on our classroom floor!

Thank you to those who ordered Scholastic Books!  Our class received all of these books for FREE because of your orders!  Thank you!

Happy Birthday sweet Mady Kate!

Look at all of the apple books we have in our classroom!
