This week we learned about friends and our school.
Mrs. Kelly made these really fun blocks for our classroom. Each friend in our room has a picture of themselves on a block. It is so much fun to stack, balance and tumble the blocks with our friends. I have enjoyed listening to the giggles as they play with these blocks. This is also a great activity to help the children learn the names of their friends.
"School" begins with the letter "S". As a class, we came up with other words that start with the letter "S". We have such smart friends!
Lafayette Academy Preschool is our school.
Mrs. Karen painted our hands for a hand print art piece that will go in our portfolios.
Check out these beautiful smiles. We love school!
Precious....
Here are a few of the books we read this week while we learned about friendship and school. I will try to remember to take photos of the books we read each week so that you can discuss the stories with your child.
In the "Rainbow Writing" center, we practiced tracing our names with several different colors to make our names look like rainbows.
Can you find the letter that your name starts with?
Our library is always stocked with fun books. We love to read!
On Thursday, we learned how to use the listening center and headphones correctly. Listening to audio books was a huge hit.
Every day during snack time, Mrs. Karen reads a short bible story to the class.
Here is a sneak peek of one of the special projects we created for our portfolios.
Mrs. Kelly was so excited about "S" week, she wore her "s"illy, "s"miley "s"ocks!
Oh, you should have heard the giggles. :)
One of the biggest projects we conquered this week included learning about all of the different fine motor learning centers in our classroom.
Each day as the kids arrive to our class, they will find their name tag on a new
Each day as the kids arrive to our class, they will find their name tag on a new
learning center. These learning centers consist of 15 different small/fine motor activities. So, for the next 15 school days, the kids will rotate (one per day) until they have visited each learning center. After they have visited all centers, 15 new learning centers will be introduced. This has been a little tricky to manage because the kids get very excited and want to play with all of the learning centers at once. However, they did really well today, listened to instructions and enjoyed learning in each center.
At circle time on Friday, we continued to learn about the letter "S". Here Mrs. Kelly is showing the class how to paint the "S" with watercolor paints.
Thank you Mrs. Lynn for helping us learn on Friday. We love you!
Wow! Check out the huge tower of friends! This is so awesome!
There are so many photos showing how much we are learning. I couldn't help but share most of them with you. Scroll down through the pictures and enjoy. Notice all of the smiling faces. We really do have so much fun at school! :)
We love our friends and our school.
We can't wait to see you next week!
Your friends,
Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Karen
