Pets!

We had a really fun week learning about pets.  We played a fun game called “Doggy, Doggy, Where’s Your Bone?” at circle time.  This game helped us learn our friends’ names.  As a group, we played a sorting game called, “House Pet or Wild Animal” where we placed animals that can live inside your house as a pet into the dollhouse and animals that should live outside and aren’t pets into the barn.  One of our favorite parts of this week was role playing a veterinarian’s office.  The kids enjoying writing prescriptions for the pets, listening to heartbeats and filling out paperwork on each pet.  I will share photos on the blog.  It was so great!

We practiced tracing along dotted lines and also practiced tracing our names!  We learned about the numbers “1” and “2” in Mrs. Kelly’s center and practiced writing with a pencil.  We learned about the letter “P” and made a purple and pink piano in the shape of a “P” in the art center.  We also learned that pets need to be taken care of!  They need food, water, exercise and lots of love.

Just a little note to parents: I will do my best to try to get the photos grouped together with each explanation, however for some reason, this blog is a little tricky to use.  Sometimes the photos don't post in the correct order when I download them.  For instance, I might have a blurb about circle time with intention of circle time photos to follow, and then a photo of circle time will randomly be located in a different spot on the blog. Sigh.....  :)  So, please forgive me if there are several random photos here and there throughout the blog. :)

In the sensory table, we had our own little pet living environment.  There were wood chips, pretend pets, paper tubes and other pet supplies for our friends to explore.  The sensory table is usually one of our favorites week after week.

Here are a few pictures from learning center time.

Floyd looked super neat in his favorite dog shirt.
Thank you for showing such great spirit, Floyd!

Mrs. Kelly showed the class how to care for animals and how to pretend being a veterinarian.

In Mrs. Kelly's learning center, we practiced holding a pencil, traced our names, learned how to trace and write the numbers "1" and "2" and traced along dotted lines.

Mrs. Karen taught us that pets need food, water, exercise, and lots of love.

Here are some of the books we read, songs we sang, and a game we played at circle time.

At the craft center with Mrs. Karen we made "p"ink and "p"urple "p"ianos in the shape of the letter "p".

Look how nicely these friends are playing together!

Mallory loved the pretty horse and knew it lives in a barn, not a house.

Dr. Lola and Dr. Eden are taking care of their patients.

Eva and Amelia enjoyed working with the lacing cards at the puzzle center.  This week they laced the letter "P" and the letter "S" from last week's lesson.

On Friday, we played a fun sorting game called, "House Pet, Outside Pet, or Wild Animal".  I was very impressed with their knowledge about animals and pets!

During snack time, we discussed the story of Noah's Arc.  We also listened to an audio book about a super silly dog.  Check out the concentration on their faces in this photo!

At dismissal time, Mrs. Karen helped the kids build with blocks on the carpet.  Everyday during dismissal, we have an activity for the children at the tables, or at the carpet with Mrs. Karen.  It is very important that we make sure the children are safe at all times.  When parents begin to arrive, the children are to wait until their name is called before coming to the door.  They know that Mrs. Kelly must always say good-bye before they leave the classroom.  Safety is always first at school! :)

Wow, look at the castle that Floyd built!

Awesome job, Amelia!

Floyd was so proud, he had to show his momma.  What a great photo!

We hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend and are excited to see you on Thursday when we will learn about families.

We love you!
Love,
Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Karen
